Italian Interior Minister in charge Mr. Matteo Salvini, leader of the far right populist party Lega Nord, said “No” and shuts port to migrant rescue ship carrying women and children, after Malta on Sunday 10th of june reiterated its refusal to open its ports to the NGO migrant rescue ship “Acquarius” which carries 629 migrants on board.
Migrants have been seen by two different groups of doctors in the last 24 hours.
Some of them where saved by SOS Mediterranee Saturday and are stuck aboard the French NGO’s ship, which is currently between Malta and Sicily waiting for a secure port at which to dock. For Italian governement Malta can’t continue to “look the other way when it comes to respecting precise international conventions on the protection of human life”.
In the last few hours Spanish PM Mr. Sanchez declared: “Spain will rescue them” and agrees to let migrant rescue ship dock in the port of Valencia. This is the difference between european real socialism and KKK’s inspired rough populism.
