At least four million people have been affected by severe flooding in Pakistan, with thousands more facing hardship along the India-Pakistan border as monsoon rains unleash torrential downpours.
Three rivers in Punjab burst their banks in recent days, inundating farmland and destroying crops. Entire towns have been submerged, Al Jazeera reported, leaving thousands of farmers without homes or livelihoods.
“The damage is unimaginable,” said Mohammed Ajmal, spokesperson for the Pakistan Muslim League. A resident told Al Jazeera the floods had taken “everything — homes, crops, all we worked for.”
Casualty figures remain unclear, some report said they may be at least 5, but officials warn the toll is rising.
