Mudec is hosting the first solo exhibition in an Italian institution for Rohini Devasher, who was awarded the prestigious Deutsche Bank “Artist of the Year” prize in 2024. This award, established in 2010, recognises emerging artists whose work offers fresh perspectives on the present. The prize traditionally includes a solo exhibition that opens in Germany before touring to other global institutions.

The exhibition is curated by Britta Färber, Global Head of Art & Culture at Deutsche Bank, and solidifies the collaboration between Deutsche Bank and 24 ORE Cultura, both committed to promoting contemporary art.

Rohini Devasher: a fine artist dedicated to Art, Science, and Philosophy

Born in New Delhi in 1978, Rohini Devasher is the first Indian artist to receive this accolade. Nominated by Stephanie Rosenthal, Director of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Project, Devasher is also an amateur astronomer. Her artistic practice is distinguished by its interdisciplinary research, exploring the intersections between art, science, and philosophy. Her projects merge visual culture, technology, and scientific knowledge, making her works deeply relevant and consistent with the values of the Deutsche Bank Collection.

An extremely rich Cultural Programme

To make the exhibition accessible to a wider audience and to delve deeper into the themes of Rohini Devasher’s artistic practice, Deutsche Bank has organised a comprehensive, free cultural programme, focused on observation and perception, includes:

  • Interactive guided tours
  • Experiential workshops
  • Activities for families, secondary school students, and university students

Opening night on Friday, 19 September at 6:30 PM in the MUDEC Auditorium with an Artist Talk.

Rohini Devasher will engage in a dialogue with curator Britta Färber, sharing the most significant aspects of her work. It sounds like a fantastic opportunity to explore the work of an artist who beautifully blends science and creativity.
