According to the Washington Post, echoed worldwide, Washington and international partners are allegedly discussing a plan to turn Gaza into a luxury resort and tech hub — after the forced expulsion or extermination of its people.
According to the Washington Post, a proposal circulating within the Trump administration outlines a post-war future for Gaza that would see the territory transformed into a so-called “Middle East Riviera.” The plan envisions U.S. control of the Strip under a trusteeship lasting at least a decade, coupled with the deportation — described cynically as “voluntary departures” — of the more than two million Palestinians currently living there.
The proposal, one of several under discussion, reportedly includes an investment of $100 billion, with expected returns four times higher over ten years. Palestinians would be offered $5,000 per person to leave “voluntarily,” plus subsidies to cover four years of rent abroad and an additional year of food. Some of this money could also be used to purchase housing in one of the six to eight planned “AI-powered smart cities” projected to rise on the ruins of Gaza.
Critics note that the plan would effectively turn Gaza into a territory for the enjoyment of wealthy elites, built upon forced displacement and destruction, with Washington assuming direct oversight of the land and its transformation into a high-tech manufacturing and tourism hub.
