According to Svoboda TV, the Russian Federation will not broadcast Olympic Games for the first time in the last 40 years. Apparently Match TV and the VK holding company negotiated the purchase of broadcast rights, but the deal was not finalized.
The management of federal channels considered it “wrong” to show the Olympics in Paris, given that most Russian athletes were not allowed to participate but ignoring to give information regarding the systematic doping of Russian athletes has resulted in 50 Olympic medals stripped from Russia (and Russian associated teams), four times the number of the next highest, and more than 30% of the global total.
