To be clear, obviously the title was provocative, but media led us to believe that immigrants sleep in five star hotels, they steal our work and they cost us a fortune. Are we sure? Are these fake news or not?

First of all, how many immigrants are there in Italy?

Istat data are crystal-clear: 5.029.000 of them are regular and are living in Italy. But 1,5 million were already European citizen: almost 1.100.000 of them came from Romania.

So, 3,5 million of regular immigrants are ‘foreign’. As if our German neighbors are not foreign. You can recognize them from miles: that blondie with flip-flops and cargo shorts. Every time, even in winter. It’s always the same guys. And they work REALLY a lot, GDP and profit are their bread and butter. They don’t even know what is a breakfast in work hours, with the timecard already punched.

Speaking about real foreigners, we must add regular immigrants that don’t live in Italy, in other words people that are not registered in any Italian registry office. According to the 22th Report on Migrations of ISMU, they are at least 410 thousand. In a nutshell the total amount of regular immigrants is 5,4 million, also including 150 thousand of refugees. But in the data are missing two categories: first, the “Salvinian” illegal immigrants, and asylum-seekers, waiting for their future. Both of them, live in the illegality, accepting undeclared work, having a detrimental consequences on economy and social stability.

Now let’s dwell for a moment. In this article I’ve used many different adjectives for immigrants that are not synonyms. If you don’t know them well, you’ll get confused. Immigrant, refugee, asylum seekers, irregular migrant: These are not synonyms.

Immigrant is the one who decides to leave his country intentionally, looking for work or a better economic situation, with a residence permit. On the other side, there is the refugee. He’s emigrating for particular reasons, and obviously is an immigrant too, but he has international assistance if this state is acknowledged by the country of destination. In the same category there are also war refugees that are escaping from war. An example would be the Jews escaping from Nazi-fascist regime of Hitler. But receiving this state it’s not so easy: when you do a request, in Italy, could pass an year or even two before you receive any answer. In this period, the country of destination will take care of you in “Identification and Expulsion Center”, and status of asylum seeker is given to you. After this period, you’re in or you’re out, no 3rd ways. If the result is positive, you become a refugee. If it’s not, you became illegal. And this category has been the subject of an horrible politic instrumentalization. It’s not about being racist, but about flattering. Lies have been said, not from people who were chit-chatting, but from people who politically represent us.

But I could be wrong, maybe they’re doing it right, and Italian people want to hear lies. In both ways, from left and right.

I admit that this long digression about different conditions of immigrants could be boring, but it’s necessary. It’s necessary to inform our readers, trying to give the basic knowledge we need to understand when someone is not saying the truth. When someone is false. Intentionally.

Because, you know, disgracefully crowds “has a very little judgment, and a very short memory”. Who speaks to the crowd knows this very well. That’s the way it is, I’m afraid. Next elections are going to be a party. Especially for liers and false politicians. And we’ll be facing it.

Back to the point, the immigrants count reached 5,4 millions, 1,5 millions of them were already living in EU. There were missing two categories: illegal immigrants and asylum seekers. For them, we can do an estimate thanks to receptions centers: they declare almost 200 thousands of refugees. This is credible because Italian governement stated that from 2015 to 2017 received 280 thousands asylum applications. Some of them will be probably have already [sic] been answered. If the result is positive, as we have already said, they become a refugee, increasing the number of regular immigrants, that has reached 5,6 million. But if the result is negative, they are going to be added to the Annual Report about Migration of ISMU, as an irregular immigrate. They are an exception, but they are so many. Obviously is an estimate, but we are assuming it is right, and if it’s like this, here you are: half million foot soldiers ready for mafia, giving it more and more power. But, if we think about it, it’s the less racist institution of the world: for themthe colour of your skin does not matter at all. They just want you.

Finally, the total amount of immigrants is 6 million. Almost the 10% of the Italian population. To be honest, a big number. We will use it for sure when we will speak about work conditions. This’ll be fun. A lot.

Indeed this won’t be for sure the last article on this topic. This is a wide phenomenon, that includes economy, and to be understood requires an in-depth analysis, that I am going to do in following articles.  So, to be honest, this is a crusade against fake news, trying to overcome them with the most possibly real information based on data. I think this is the only way to remove fake news from the internet. But the real one, not the ‘fake’ fake news that politician speak out loud. Let’s spread the world.
